Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT)

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our civil engineering team in the Corvallis office. This position provides hands-on experience supporting the planning, design, and permitting of residential, commercial, and mixed-use development projects. The EIT will work under the supervision of licensed Professional Engineers and collaborate closely with project managers, designers, and clients throughout all phases of project development.

This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career engineer looking to build a strong foundation in civil engineering within a collaborative, small-firm environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and layout of civil engineering projects, including site grading, stormwater management, utilities, and roadways.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, exhibits, and technical reports.
  • Develop and revise construction plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Assist with permitting and coordination with local jurisdictions and agencies.
  • Support construction administration activities including submittal review, RFIs, and site visits.
  • Collaborate with project managers and senior engineers to meet project schedules and budgets.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (or graduating soon).
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6-months.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship or prior experience in civil engineering or consulting.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal development regulations.
  • Experience with hydrology and stormwater design methods.
  • Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to perform field work including site visits and surveying.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s license.
