Experience the difference
with Devco’s service-based cold-formed steel engineering, where our team specializes in crafting project-specific solutions that optimize performance and cost-effectiveness through value engineering strategies. With our flexible approach, we accommodate changes in project scope, budget, and timeline, to keep your project on track. From collaborative planning to seamless execution, Devco provides comprehensive support every step of the way, empowering you to achieve your project goals with confidence.
Design Build, Design Assist, Deferred Design, or Shop Drawings?
We are experienced in all the formats of design team relationships for interior and exterior cold-formed steel framing projects. From complex design build and design assist projects to drafting only shop drawing submittals; no project is too big or too small. If project requirements are unclear, we can assist in reviewing specifications and general notes to help determine and/or identify conflicts in requirements.
On design build and design assist projects we thrive in the coordination effort and early project involvement to aid in directing the framing intent. Where flexibility is more limited, on deferred designs, we strive to identify issues/conflicts in the bid documents and recognize framing efficiencies through value engineering. For all projects we communicate the framing design in a format that is easy to navigate and understand.
Our Clients
We work with a variety of clients with contractors being the core of our cold-formed steel client base. Devco’s experience working for the contractor, who ultimately builds the design, highlights our attention to coordination, constructability, and economics. Involvement with field issues and the ability to promptly develop creative and efficient solutions is paramount. Our responsiveness, diligence, and proficiency are rewarded. The majority of our cold-formed steel clients are repeat customers, with many decades-old relationships.
Beyond providing project design services, Devco is frequently sought out by manufacturers and innovators of Cold-Formed Steel framing products seeking technical assistance. We are experienced with analysis of custom cold-formed steel products and assemblies, generating product data, and managing evaluation report submittal.
Adept at Meeting Challenging and Unique Project Requirements
Our portfolio boasts successful completion of many projects with unique and challenging design requirements. Devco has designed multiple UFC 3-310 Risk Category V projects, showcasing our expertise in advanced seismic design for functionality post-earthquake. Furthermore, our experience extends to projects necessitating blast (explosive) design of cold-formed steel systems per UFC 3-340 or ASCE-59. This includes dynamic analysis of framing members and connection design to withstand induced blast loading. Having worked on theater, auditorium, and recording studio projects we are experienced with sound isolated framing design, from simple suspended ceilings to complicated wall, soffit, and support ceiling assemblies.
Industry Involvement & Advancement
Recognizing the complexity of Cold-Formed Steel, we continually strive to enhance our knowledge and understanding. Proud members of esteemed organizations such as the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute (CFSEI), Devco stays up to date with industry innovations and code changes. We are past members of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) Committee on Framing Standards (COFS) and Committee on Specifications (COS) for decades prior to AISI standards development dissolving in 2023. Devco remains an active participant in the reformation effort to help ensure cold-formed steel codes continue advancing.
